Dear Voyager Families,
On Tuesday, February 23 from 5:30 – 7:00 in the Elementary Gym, the Voyager High School Show Choir, Bull City Lights, will have a BBQ fundraiser to raise funds for their trip to Orlando when they compete in the National Show Choir competition.
They will sell BBQ by the pound for $9.00 and BBQ plates for $9.00. If you would like to pre-order and pay for the BBQ, please follow this link.
Pre-ordering through the website will be active through Thursday, February 18th at 12noon…after that, you can try to buy a plate at the door. However, we strongly encourage pre-orders through the site. We will sell plates at the door ONLY if we haven’t already sold out through pre-orders!
Again, you may pre-order your BBQ and either pick it up for take-out or dine-in in the elementary school gym. This is perfect, because there is a high school basketball game at home on that night. You can eat dinner and then head to the high school for a fun and exciting basketball game! This will be a great way to support our high school show choir and our high school basketball teams!!
I am VERY proud to announce that our own K-Swizzle Barber won FIRST place in the district Poetry Out Loud competition tonight! She will compete at the state competition in Greensboro in March for a chance to go to Nationals!
Just to put this into perspective– there were 13 contestants who are the very best from five schools (VAHS, NCSSM, DSA, Middle College, and The School for Creative Studies). Each contestant presented two poems a piece, and not a single contestant needed to be prompted throughout all 26 poems. That includes two other incredibly talented Voyager students–Sam Williamson (the only boy in the competition!) and Hannah Woo. These two amazing freshmen conquered their nerves and performed beautifully; it’s a testament to the competition that they didn’t place in the top.
Classes will meet at the high school in classroom C115 from 2:45-5:45 each weekday.
Sign up for this class will start at 12:01am on March 5, 2016
