Voyager Academy will dismiss two hours early today, Friday, January 6, 2017.

Inclement weather plans

Hello families!

As we prepare for our first winter weather advisory, please remember that we will follow the DPS inclement weather policy. If they post that schools are delayed, closed or dismissing early, we will as well. The information will be posted to our website and to the local advisory stations, but plan to follow whichever notice gets posted first. Be safe and stay warm!

Voyager Academy Signing Day Celebration

On Thursday, November 10, 2016, four student athletes here at Voyager Academy signed letters of intent in order to pursue their dreams to play sports at the collegiate level: Luke Bennett, Mackenzie Allison, Jackson Kimbrough, and Aminata Johnson. All four individuals excelled in each of their sports, while at the same time thriving academically, 3 of the 4 are ranked in the top 20 of the senior class. It makes our Voyager community proud to be inundated with such life and accomplishments year around. These are only four examples of students within our school who dedicate themselves to succeed. However, in their signing speeches, every student athlete referenced the tremendous help they received from coaches, parents, family, and friends during their journeys. Luke Bennett signed with Appalachian State University for cross country, Mackenzie Allison signed with William Peace University for softball, Aminata Johnson signed with Howard University for women’s basketball, and Jackson Kimbrough signed with Chowan University to play lacrosse.

Luke Bennett named NCHSAA Performance of the Week recipient

My Energy Kit Challenge

Our school is taking the My Energy Kit Challenge and has a goal to save at least 20,000 kilowatt-hours of energy this school year. We’ll reach this goal when at least 100 families at our school sign up for a FREE Energy Kit and use it to make their homes energy-efficient. These FREE kits from Duke Energy contain items like LED bulbs, faucet aerators, and other useful gadgets that can make a big difference toward saving energy at home. If we can meet the challenge, our school will automatically win $250. Take the My Energy Kit Challenge and sign up for your FREE kit at or call 1-855-386-9548.

Athletics Practice 8/8

High School Tennis, Cross Country and Soccer Parents and Student-Athletes

Due to the possiblity of inclement weather this afternoon I wanted to share the plans in place for outdoor pracitces for Monday August 8th.
Cross Country
If Weather i sWill Practice at Duke’s East Campus. 751 Broad Street Durham, NC 27705, at 2:15pm to 3:45pm.  The entrance to east campus where we meet is where Perry and Broad Streets meet, across from Whole Foods Parking Lot.  Should the weather not cooperate, meaning thunder lightning or pouring rain the athletes are asked to run 4 miles on their own when the weather breaks.  This should be a brisk pace no longer than 40 minute run.

Tryouts will continue today at the middle school from 3pm -5pm, should there be weather issues the team will move to the middle school gym.  Student-ahtletes should bring towel and running shoes in case this change happens midway through tryouts.
Contact Coach Rose for details if weather is bad, otherwise practice will go on as planned.
